A cute shot of the two Gravely girls and the 3 grandkids!!
Sweet things I love about Gardner.... (a list by Mommy) - The way you snuggle up under our chins, or place your cheek on our cheeks, when we hold you. I never met a more lovable baby. - The way you shiver and giggle when I put lotion on your arms and chest after your baths. - The way you look in overalls, or in wide-legged pants...so stylish for a 6-month old, you are. - The way you reach out in the early morning light to touch my face, to make sure it's really me, when I come and get you up to feed you. Your little hand reaches up to touch my chin and cheek, then a warm smile spreads on your little lips. - The way you blow pureed carrots in little tiny splats all over your high chair (and me). - The way you look at us, wide-eyed, when we clap for you, wondering what on earth we're doing. - The way you look at me when I dance around the house to loud music, again, wondering what on earth I'm doing! - The little coos I hear from you in the backseat when we're driving

Take a look at my new little cousin! Savannah Leigh was born Friday, March 18th!
Gardner's six-month checkup was this morning. As I write this, the poor little man is sleeping off the trauma of the 3 shots he received. I expect him, like last time, to have a fever for the next couple of days. Hopefully he'll feel better by Easter Sunday. Gardner weighs 15lbs. 5 oz. and is 26" long. He is in the 15th percentile for weight, and 45th percentile for height. Petite and slim, but still well within the norm, said Dr. Treash. So my worries were put at ease. We were commended for starting him on vegetables last week. He loves carrots! I start green beans with him this weekend. We received the "ok" to give him a sippy cup, about which I had read conflicting advice. Gardner is learning to take a "big boy" cup already, and the doctor said that was excellent. Adding the sippy cup to that, plus nursing, just helps to further expand his horizons when it comes to oral development and ability. It may make weaning easier later on, as wel
Hear ye, hear ye! Gardner had a big weekend of "firsts!" Friday was significant for two reasons....it was Ken's 28th birthday, and the very first time Gardner ate jarred baby food! We started him out on carrots, since I had read that starting babies on veggies instead of fruits helps them not get too much of a sweet tooth too early. We will let him get used to carrots all week, checking for allergies, etc....then we will start on green beans next weekend. Along with carrots came the first stains on his clean, spotless bibs. Sigh. Thank goodness for OxyClean! It works wonders for this kind of stuff. Saturday afternoon, Gardner and I were playing on the floor in his room. I was helping him strengthen his legs and back by letting him stand up with my help, and roll and reach things. Before my very eyes, he rolled completely over from his back to his belly! I cheered and clapped furiously...he looked at me like I'd gone mad. I wonder what thoughts run through b

Yes, the child loves books.
Gardner has just started his first two-syllable sounds, and he now says them repeatedly during all of his waking hours! He realized on Monday that he can say "bah, bah, bah...." And does he ever! He coos it, he sings it, he sighs it, he shouts it. I try to encourage him to slowly change it into a real word...."baby," "ball," etc. We'll see what happens. He is well on the way to those precious and audible true first words. Ken calls from work during the day to say hi to me, as he always has, but now there is another eavesdropper on the phone. Gardner chews on the phone cord and then I let him speak to Dad. Ken talks to his son, and within seconds, Gardner's head shoots upward, his eyes widen, and a slow smile spreads across his lips. He ever-so-slowly gazes in my direction to see if I'm the one talking....he can't understand why he can hear Daddy but not see him. It makes Ken's day to know that his baby boy lights up when he
