So, the Discovery Health Channel showed yesterday their annual "Birth Day Live" fest, from 4pm till 4am. I invited Sara over to watch it with me (some of it), and we sat there in my den and marveled at how many babies are literally born every minute. 26 babies were born in 3 hospitals from 4pm till I turned it on again before bed at 10pm. Wow. And let me also say that I had forgotten all of the little uncomfortable situations and procedures that I endured while prepping for and undergoing my c-section that September morning. Ouch. How'd I do that? Only God could have given me that strength. Sara looked quite stunned, and honestly, a little shaky. I know exactly how she felt. I felt that same way when I watched it last February, also newly-pregnant. I wanted to know EVERYTHING about everything. But really, some things are better left unknown. To save our sanity and our modesty. Haha! Overall, it was a fun afternoon, watching as the daddies so tenderly coached
Gardner is developing his own little personality, and I love watching it unfold like a flower, new petals showing themselves each day. He and I have a daily "laugh fest" as I undress him for his nighttime baths (he finds this activity hilarious for some reason....). He looks at me with a wary eye as I dance around the house with my favorite music playing loudly. It's almost as if he's wondering what kind of household this is going to be, with these random lively spells he beholds. He gets noticeably cranky when I set him in his highchair in the kitchen with me, as I go about my cooking or cleaning. He looks at me as if to say, "Mom, pay attention to MEEEE!" I've even caught him banging his fist on the tray a couple of times (let's hope that was not intentional). He is shy around new people, but once he's set in new surroundings, he becomes glittery-eyed and personable, making everyone coo and coddle. He knows how to work the crowds. And h
Gardner is now grabbing his toes and trying to pull them into his mouth! I won't dissuade this new trick unless, of course, I have reason to believe his feet aren't clean for whatever reason....then I will interject a toy! :0) He loves to interact with us in every way, and now, loves to interact with parts of his little body that he daily discovers! He is sleeping through the night almost every single night now....he has slept at least 9 or 10 hours straight all week long. Much needed time and rest for Ken and I, I must say, and Gardner is more chipper and happy when he gets those zzz's. :0) Meg
Gardner has taken very well to rice cereal now. He has been eating it twice a day for almost three weeks, and it has changed his ability to stay full, to sleep through the night, and of course, to produce diapers that are much more "fragrant" than they used to be. :0) He does respond to the "airplane spoon" approach, we've found, but I changed it up a bit and use the "bumblebee," making buzzing sounds as I careen it towards his tiny open mouth. He smacks his lips and coos, remnants of rice particles streaming down his drooly chin. I giggle, clap my hands, cheer him on, and grab my camera for yet another snapshot. Moms. :0) Ken has a good point....smelling and watching these rice cereal adventures have made both of us start to crave hot breakfast cereals in the mornings recently, as opposed to our die-hard cold cereal regimen. We suddenly have intense cravings for cream of wheat....go figure. It is so much fun watching Gardner experi
