Gardner sitting up unassisted.... It seemed as if he started this just overnight. One day we just realized that we didn't need to prop the Boppy pillow around him anymore. Amazing.

A priceless smile.

Gardner is dumbfounded with Barney....the show works between his naps, so I usually let him watch it while I work on the computer in the mornings. Look at him starting off into the screen....

Gardner just sat there one afternoon, propped up, actually looking as if he were deeply absorbed in his book. Gotta start 'em early with reading, you know.
(Post from Gardner....late on a Saturday...when I'm supposed to be in bed asleep. Shhh....) Hi, everybody. First of all, let me give a shout out to my Dad for redesigning my baby blog. It's so awesome. Babies like me love bright colors and simple lines. Way to go, Daddy. Second, let me tell you what I have learned to do. You ready? I can sit up on my own now. I can sit up for, like, maybe 3 minutes without tumbling over. Isn't that cool? I can play with my toys in a whole different way now that I can sit up straight and hold them in my hands. Mommy looks like she's going to cry when she sees me sitting up by myself. I guess she's crying cause she's happy. Or maybe she's realizing that I'm just growing up so, so fast. Guess what else I can do? I can say "ma ma." It's probably not that I am actually calling Mom when I do this, but I can say it, and they wrote it down in my baby book. I can also say "bye bye," but on
Gardner is so vocal now. He won't quit cooing, squealing, and ahhing...but I wouldn't ask him to....those are the sweetest little sounds in the whole world, and they make the walls of our house resound with happiness. Rolling bi-directionally now, he is quite the little wiggle-worm. Gone are the days where I could just leave him in one spot, run over to do something in another room, and come back to find him just as I left him. I know in a matter of just a few more weeks he will be crawling....and will be able to actually follow me into the next room. Wow. He is such the little charmer. Everywhere I take him, if he sees faces that he recognizes, he flaps his little arms and gives people high-fives (well, sort of). His eyes grow wide with excitement, and he sucks his little lower lip in and out, in and out, just because I think he likes the little noise it makes when he does that. Tomorrow, a good friend of ours, Lanna , is taking us out to do a photo shoot of Gardner on t

Gardner is now rolling all OVER the place! He can roll front to back, back to front, and scoot in a circle off of whatever surface upon which he is playing (usually a big blanket sprawled on the floor). He can sit up by himself with just a little help from his Boppy pillow! It's amazing to see how he is developing. He still LOVES to be read to. I bought him a cute picture book with real photographs of animals. He clutches that little square book like a briefcase as he is toted around the house in my arms. He now recognizes certain words and makes obvious signs that he hears us. He fully comprehends the phrases, "Do you want to EAT?" and "Do you want to go for a RIDE?". He also knows the word "cereal" and "kitty cat." We have taught him to say "mmmmm" the whole time he is eating pureed foods...it's rather cute. We feed him out of little Pier 1 ramekins. He knows that when one of these is pulled out of the cabinet, cerea

Look....a baby burrito! (Gardner still likes to be swaddled at bedtime.)
Our little man is growing up before our very eyes. He is rolling all over the place now. That plus doing a "circle scoot," or what I call it, anyway. He scoots on his belly in a big circle shape, rotating 360 degrees if we just let him lie there and do so. Inevitably, his being on his belly too long makes him irritable, though, so he doesn't make a full 360 that often. We have been saving up our funds and are taking a plunge today...we are finally purchasing a digital camera. The digital video camera was our big purchase for last year....and it has been the most wonderful investment....I wouldn't take the whole world for the priceless videos I now have of these last six months. Now, with a digital still shot camera, I can be bolder in how I experiment with photos of Gardner without having to worry about them not turning out when I pick up the developed prints. I can erase the ones I don't care for, and just have printed the ones that are clear. I can reco
