The nursery is starting to really come together now. Dad did come help me build a bookshelf (well, I just helped by painting and by changing drill bits....he wouldn't let me lift a thing!). It looks amazing, like it was custom built into the room. Ken's mom ordered the khaki-colored rug that will fill up most of the hardwood floors....it should be ready in about a week or so. The crib is on its way....it's expected arrival date is next Monday, but we'll see. Dad's custom watercolors that match the baby bedding are hung on the walls....wow, words can't explain how beautiful they are! Heading towards my 32-week mark, I am really starting to feel the effects of the weight of the baby. I feel like my entire body is being pulled forward (well, it is.....), and my back over-arches to compensate. I have been giving out of all energy about 2:30 or 3 each day, and sometimes my catnaps turn into 2-1/2 hour slumbers. All this makes up for the tossing and turning I do
I am nearing the 31-week mark, which means in about 1-1/2 weeks, I will be in my eighth month. Wow, I can’t believe it is getting so much closer to the birth. I think I’m getting to the stage now where I just can’t wait much longer….the anticipation and excitement is growing, and I am starting to long to hold him in my arms. As he grows stronger daily (and I can tell by how much harder he is kicking, shoving, and stretching), it makes him that much closer to my heart, and I realize that he is nearly to full completion….this long, 9-month road of God weaving together our son inside of me is almost at its end, and the promise of a baby in our arms is nearly materialized!! I am feeling like I’m sticking out so far now! Well, I am, actually! That’s normal! But whenever I catch a sideways glance of myself in a mirror, I still have to catch my breath when I see that huge beach ball-shape preceding my body! I have never felt clumsier. Ken loves to watch me in the kitch
Just wanted to say that we attended our last lamazda class on Thursday evening. Well, the last class for this baby, anyway. Meg, in her infinite wisdom and discernment, noticed that our instructor seemed to be, well, nicer to me. I think she's kinda fond of us, now. Who knew? Glad to leave on a happy note. Little "Oliver" is misbehaving again. He used Meg's bladder as a punching bag once more this week as we were out for a walk. I suppose we should get used to that for the next two months. Not long now... And baby shower #2 is this weekend. Looking forward to getting some more goodies... uh... for the baby... of course. more later, ken
I am 30 weeks....finally! What a great feeling to know that I am now 3/4ths of the way to the point where I can hold this baby! The baby can now open and close his eyelids, and see light from the outside. He also began pushing more upward on my lungs this week....especially when I lie down....and he has officially begun the quick kicks to my ribs! What a strange feeling. The baby weighs about 3 lbs. and is about 14 inches from head to toe. Most of the length is already on the little guy....the next few weeks will be spent just padding his little body with fat for warmth. Within the next 4 weeks or so, he should slowly turn downward into the proper position for birth. Heartburn is now a relatively common occurance for me nightly....I have gotten used to sleeping elevated on three pillows now (when you're really tired, it doesn't matter!). I am still able to exercise....it just has to be broken up into shorter sessions throughout my day. For one, I tire out mu
We found the baby a doctor today!! First pick...my intuition and discernment led me straight to the pediatrician that we think will be perfect for us and the baby. We had an interview with him, Dr. Dale Treash, this morning at his office, and within 10 minutes Ken and I were convinced that we'd found our place. Why? Well, the thing that stood out to us the most was his obvious dedication to Christ. Veggie Tales character draped all over the shelves in his office.... I spotted a book on his shelf that was entitled Doctors Who Choose to Follow Christ. A painting hung above his desk called "The Servant" that portrayed Jesus washing the feet of a very tired and disheveled businessman hunched over in an office chair. And a recently-read copy of Max Lucado's Study Bible sat on the corner of his uncluttered desk. Upon getting to know him better, he was very talkative and very open....very direct, as he self-described perfectly. His views on breastfeeding, disci
(post from Ken) So, in the world of baby-land, here's the latest that's been happening. (1) Tonight is the next-to-the-last La-mazda class. Yeah. I've learned a lot, but I still think our instructer hates me. Not sure why, but she has it in for me. (2) We bought baby furniture today from Wood You. Corny name, all wood dresser. Or is it a "chest of drawers," or do they call it a "chester drawer." I don't really know, I'm not good at that stuff. But it's wood, it's big, and it's currently taking up residence in the back of my Jeep until I can get it out. (3) Meg had a doctor's appointment today. Everything's A-0K perfect. Not the slightest deviation from what's expected. That's good. Everything else is pretty even-keel. Nothing exciting to report. Thanks for reading. Ken
