The nursery is starting to really come together now. Dad did come help me build a bookshelf (well, I just helped by painting and by changing drill bits....he wouldn't let me lift a thing!). It looks amazing, like it was custom built into the room. Ken's mom ordered the khaki-colored rug that will fill up most of the hardwood floors....it should be ready in about a week or so. The crib is on its way....it's expected arrival date is next Monday, but we'll see. Dad's custom watercolors that match the baby bedding are hung on the walls....wow, words can't explain how beautiful they are!
Heading towards my 32-week mark, I am really starting to feel the effects of the weight of the baby. I feel like my entire body is being pulled forward (well, it is.....), and my back over-arches to compensate. I have been giving out of all energy about 2:30 or 3 each day, and sometimes my catnaps turn into 2-1/2 hour slumbers. All this makes up for the tossing and turning I do at night, I suppose. Wonder why I sleep more peacefully during the day than I do at night? I may never know.
One thing I'm still able to do and am doing is exercise. Thank goodness! I have several aerobic tapes I switch back and forth between, and I have also done lots of prenatal yoga. Ken and I still enjoy our walks in the evenings, as well, though they are shorter than they used to be. I know that staying active will help me when I am in labor; my muscles will be more athletically trained to handle the rigorous childbirth "marathon." The two things I have to remember are to check my heart rate every few minutes (it can't go over 140 bpm when you're pregnant), and being sure I drink before, during, and after workouts. Dehydration can cause preterm labor, and that I don't want.
Before I sign off for now, I want you to be able to see the crib and bedding, etc., that we chose. The bedding is here already and it is beautiful. Special thanks to Animal Crackers children's shoppe for ordering both of these things for me....
