Gardner has taken very well to rice cereal now. He has been eating it twice a day for almost three weeks, and it has changed his ability to stay full, to sleep through the night, and of course, to produce diapers that are much more "fragrant" than they used to be. :0)

He does respond to the "airplane spoon" approach, we've found, but I changed it up a bit and use the "bumblebee," making buzzing sounds as I careen it towards his tiny open mouth. He smacks his lips and coos, remnants of rice particles streaming down his drooly chin. I giggle, clap my hands, cheer him on, and grab my camera for yet another snapshot. Moms. :0)

Ken has a good point....smelling and watching these rice cereal adventures have made both of us start to crave hot breakfast cereals in the mornings recently, as opposed to our die-hard cold cereal regimen. We suddenly have intense cravings for cream of wheat....go figure.

It is so much fun watching Gardner experience new food with such excitement and enthusiasm. Even as we touched a lemon to his lips this weekend, he grimaced and shivered, then dove forward for more of a taste of THAT. So much more to look forward to. Maybe he'll love sweet potatoes as much as his mom does.
