Lots to catch up on!

I'll start with how my week 8 began....

Week 8, beginning last Friday, began with another bang. Supposedly week 8 is when the hormones peak, and boy, did I feel the ramifications of that! I felt my sickest ever on Friday and Saturday. Still not to the point of GETTING sick, thank the Lord for that, but still just a gagging, sour-stomach, dizzy feeling. I noticed that my aversions were multiplying in number as I sat down with good intentions to a plateful of salad with ranch dressing on Saturday afternoon....after three bites, I gagged and had to throw the entire thing out. So much for all those raw veggies in the fridge. The garbage men are just LOVING us right now....our trash can has never been heavier. :-(

Saturday, of course, was Valentine's Day. It was cold and misty all day. I kept trying to figure out all day long where I'd like to eat that night when Ken took me out. Nothing sounded good except for Olive Garden's Cappellini Pomodoro, my favorite dish there of all time. But Greenville was a long, rainy drive away, and neither Ken nor I wanted to drive it. We went through the entire Anderson phone book's restaurant listings, but nothing....NOTHING....sounded remotely tasty to me. So about 8:30 pm that evening, you would have found us sitting in our sweats in Atlanta Bread Company, me sipping tomato soup out of a bread bowl. Not TOO romantic, but we certainly did laugh a lot about all of it. It's important to see the comical in all of this stuff.....

Emily and Rick moved into their house on Saturday, too. They are so excited. I hope to be able to help her with things she needs help with once my energy comes back! Arianna's room bright yellow room is so cute. Their house was built around the time ours was, so it has mucho history. It's so cool that we can both start out in cute houses with such character as we adjust to motherhood!!

And here's a milestone.... I used a mini-ponytail holder for the first time today, doing as Suzanne recommended, to give my jeans a little more room by looping it through and pulling it around the button. They aren't tight yet, but were becoming a little less roomy when I sat down. I refuse to put my regular clothes up until I am much more uncomfortable....these are my favorite jeans in the world!

I went to the grocery store this morning....each trip every week seems to be gradually getting longer and longer, though my list gets shorter and shorter. I was at BiLo this morning for about 1-1/2 hours. I walked every aisle at least 3 times. I put things into my cart on round 2, and put them back on round 3, replacing them with things I never even considered because they weren't on my list (and I'm a nazi when it comes to sticking to my list). I swear, I think the employees were getting suspicious as I picked up and contemplated EVERY item. Somehow everything I wrote on my list last night suddenly sounded GROSS as I actually approached it in the store aisle. THIS IS SO NOT LIKE ME!!! I have never, ever been so picky or unable to make a quick decision.

But this is part of the ride to motherhood, I must always remind myself of that. This has been going on for centuries, and I'm sure there were plenty of other mothers back in the pages of time that simply MUST have wanted chocolate-covered mini doughnuts at 3:00 a.m., I'm sure of it. Guess you never pay attention till it happens to you!

Here's to my upcoming 9th week of pregancy, and to my wonderful husband, Ken, who is laughing along with me through these ups and downs. He keeps me sane. :-) I am so fortunate to have him by my side....

Meg
