Hear ye, hear ye!
Gardner had a big weekend of "firsts!"
Friday was significant for two reasons....it was Ken's 28th birthday, and the very first time Gardner ate jarred baby food! We started him out on carrots, since I had read that starting babies on veggies instead of fruits helps them not get too much of a sweet tooth too early. We will let him get used to carrots all week, checking for allergies, etc....then we will start on green beans next weekend. Along with carrots came the first stains on his clean, spotless bibs. Sigh. Thank goodness for OxyClean! It works wonders for this kind of stuff.
Saturday afternoon, Gardner and I were playing on the floor in his room. I was helping him strengthen his legs and back by letting him stand up with my help, and roll and reach things. Before my very eyes, he rolled completely over from his back to his belly! I cheered and clapped furiously...he looked at me like I'd gone mad. I wonder what thoughts run through babies' minds at moments like those. :0)
I cannot believe how much he has changed, even in the last month. He is reaching, grabbing, and pulling things to his open mouth. He is laughing, flirting, and prancing in his little toys that help him stand up. His simple, one-vowel sounds have progressed to "bah-bah" and "mah-mah," squeals and giggles interspersed. He is so much fun to watch, and now, he can interact with us!
Six month check-up coming this Thursday, the 24th....plus more shots (booo!). I will update with how much he's grown after the appointment!
